What a great weekend. I really think that society in general would benefit from regular 3-day weekends. I think that people would call in sick less, take less time off, and be more productive at work because there would be an extra day to get personal things done. And I don't mean working 4 ten-hour days either. I mean shortening the work week by a day. But that's just my opinion.
Saturday I watched my beloved Cowboys snag their first win of the season. I just love college football. I wish I could have been there in person, but watching the game with a dozen orange-clad Cowboy faithful was pretty fun. I think that's one of the things I miss about my new hometown. Not a lot of OSU fans around here.
Sunday we celebrated my grandfather's 75th birthday. That was a little bit of a shocker for me. I mean, obviously I know that we all get older, but for some reason my grandparents are exempt from aging in my head. It was really a little unsettling to think about them getting older.
Monday we took our annual motorcycle trip to eat BBQ. My dad, grandfather, husband, father-in-law, and assorted friends all ride bikes, and us girls ride along for the food! We ride to a place about 30 or 45 minutes away, enjoy some great lunch, and head home. Not a huge trip, but it's a very comfortable distance, and doesn't take up the whole day.
I don't know about you, but I am ready for fall! Not that I'm in any hurry for winter to get here, but I'm ready to get rid of the oppressive heat and humidity. I'm ready for beautiful colored leaves, for jackets, for desserts full of cinnamon and nutmeg, for stews and football and Thanksgiving! Bring it on! And in the meantime, there is a messy house and neglected laundry that are calling my name!
